Vashti is a blue cornish rex. I would not ordinarily have a purebred cat. I would adopt a homeless kittty. And she was. A breeder of cornish rex died suddenly a couple of years ago. That individual's vet ended up with something like 15 of them. That vet is the one that our greyhound rescue group works with. I was going to pick up a greyhound at the vet to take home to foster, and they just asked me if I'd like a cornish rex - hence we have Vashti. A characteristic of the breed is that they are extremely affectionate and fond of being held and handled. She's a hoot and a half - sleeps under the covers with me, and likes to have the electric blanket left on all day so she can sleep in a warm place.
