Keeping your dogs teeth clean?

I was wanting some info on keeping my pups teeth clean. I know I can brush them everyday with a doggy toothbrush and toothpaste but I was wondering if anyone really did that daily. If not, what methods do you use to keep their teeth clean?

I try to brush Jasper's teeth once and awhile, but it is difficult. Chew toys are good for their teeth. Also I'm in the process of ordering some Wysong Denta-treat (Sp) which is supposed to be very good for their teeth.

Ya, I was considering some dental type treats but I was wondering what ones worked best and were good for the dog also. Maybe I will look into the Wysong treats. Is there a website? I know they also have some toys that are supposed to help keep teeth clean. Does anyone know anything about those or have recommendations?

RAW meaty bones...... keeps our dogs teeth nice and clean and healthy.

RAW chicken necks are great for a dog to chew through and they remove tartar and buildup as they chew.

remember only RAW NEVER COOKED!

Prajna, where do you get the raw bones? And what type of bones? I would like to give Riley raw bones but I would love specifics on where to get them and what kind is best to use. And of course what size of bones would be ok for him. He is 8lbs.

My dogs each get a Greenie once a week & it seems to be keeping their teeth clean. A dental vet that talked at one of our kennel club meetings said not only is chewing the Greenies good for dogs' teeth, but what is left on them is also good.

I believe greenies have an enzyme that inhibits plaque growth. Thay is why they are good to the very end .

Brushing is best for oral health but research shows that plaque does not turn into calculus intil after 3 days. So if you brush you dog's teeth every three days, you are doing good...
