Aggressive Behavior

I wanted to send an update. This past weekend I was going to be gone much of Saturday and so I took my dogs to a friend's house for the day. My friend has two dogs and these dogs have been to my house. When his dogs were over Riley got a little aggressive towards the one, but it was when she would get too close to me or one of his toys. I got a report back from my friend and he said the dogs behaved perfectly and Riley only growled slightly and I guess it wasn't at any dog, but he was more so playing with the toy. So I'm beginning to think that the experience I had with Riley and my other friend's black lab was either something to do with the black lab or it was a territory issue with being at my house. Does anyone have any ideas how to "test" this theory?
